A renowned manufacturer of children's ride-on toys, including bikes, tricycles, and wagons, the client is recognized for its innovative designs and commitment to safety and quality. The client intended to expand its product line but was facing major challenges related to the design and development process.
Here are the major challenges that the client faced:
Accommodating Multiple Heights: A major roadblock the client faced was designing one "Learn to Ride Bike" suitable for all kids with different heights.
Accuracy in Design and Prototyping: Ensuring precise design and development of the equipment.
Managing Multiple Sizes: Developing bikes in various sizes (12", 14", 16", 18", and 20") to cater to different age groups, ranging from 2 to 15+ years.
Concept > CAD > Rendered Models: The design process for the ‘Learn to Ride Bike’ involved several stages:
The Ride-on Bike was named the ‘Toy of the Year’ for the year of its manufacture for the following merits:
1. Enhanced Child Development:
The "Learn to Ride Bike" design accommodates multiple heights in a single bike, making it versatile and suitable for a wide range of age groups, from 2 to 15+ years.
2. Safety and Quality Assurance:
It was ensured that the final products met high standards of safety and quality, providing parents with reliable and safe toys for their children through the meticulous design and prototyping process.
3. Sustainable Manufacturing:
Efficient mass production, maintenance of consistency, and reduction in manufacturing costs resulted from the Design for Manufacturing (DFM).

4. Accessible and Inclusive Play:
The project also carries the element of promoting inclusivity & equal opportunities of play as children of various ages and sizes can enjoy them, promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities for play.
5. Economic Impact:
The time-to-market for new products was low due to an efficient design & development process, supporting growth within the toy manufacturing industry.
It would suffice to say that the client was satisfied with the project, and we were presented a ‘Ride on Bike’ as a souvenir.
The client assigned several project challenges to us, apart from the “toy of the Year” Ride-on Bike. Utilizing our expertise in Design for Manufacture Plastics, we have been helping the client in creating plastic toys with multiple colors that are especially attractive to kids, safe for them, with no edges.
With our assistance, the client was able to go ahead with all the projects, viz.:
1. Design for Injection Molding:
We designed components for injection molding, which involved creating detailed CAD models and prototypes, ensuring that the final product was fit to be manufactured at scale, maintaining high quality and consistency.
2. Concept > CAD > Rendered Models:
The design process for the toy car involved several stages:
Trike Design: The design process included:
Bin & Hinge Design:
"Vee Technologies has been instrumental in enhancing our product line with the comprehensive design and development solutions it brought to the table. Our design accuracy and manufacturing efficiency significantly improved due to the meticulousness in concept sketches to CAD models, and rendered images. The innovative designs for our 'Learn to Ride Bike' have not only met but exceeded our expectations by winning the “Toy of the Year” award. All our projects were completed well within the deadlines. The resultant reduction in time-to-market ensured we remain competitive. We are extremely satisfied with the collaboration and look forward to future projects together."
